Mayberry Melonpool is the television-addicted, somewhat clumsy, not-all-that-intelligent Captain of the "Steel Duck." Oh yeah, and he's obsessed with getting a date. In short, he doesn't have a lot going for him.
Ralph Zinobop is the inventor of the "Steel Duck." He is eager to enter the next phase of his plan: to make money off his inventions to regain his rightful place as ruler of the Planet Zinobop — a planet that he was exiled from by his paranoid father several years ago. His other hobbies include wild get-get-rich schemes and drinking copious amounts of coffee. He also has a terrible temper.
Sam T. Dogg is completely out of his element. He’s super intelligent, a highly-skilled pilot and has the most common sense of anyone aboard the "Steel Duck." Also, no one takes him seriously because he’s a dog.
I like the detail of the coffee cup mark over the butler.
Wait? Do they have pines on that planet? Oh yeah, the Sam-is-a-pilot bit seems more important… Did you said about that before? I know that in ye Olde Universe he was SD pilot, but since he arrived to the station in a cargo box and he has not said anything about him, besides being able to play poker (being able to do it with NO opposable thumbs, beats me) and livng in canine related place, I don’t recall him saying anything important about himself.
Sam’s mentioned it a few times about being a pilot — though he’s had so much bad luck that it’s kind of been more in passing than anything else. Not sure what the pine comment was about.
The comment was about one of the 2 ways to leave there. One is in a pine box, but you didn’t draw them on this planet, so good luck making a box with it.
Ha ha! I missed that! I don’t really write/draw hard sci fi, so I don’t usually worry too much about using Earth colloquialisms in the strip. I kind of hate comics/sci fi shows that say things like “What in the name of Zerg are you talking about?” so I don’t really bother.
But, yes there are pine trees on this planet. LOL.
Hmmm, J-1, L-2, B-5. JLB (1+2+5)=8 Exposition?

@patjade WOW that’s amazing! I’d be pretty stoked to see JLB-8 show up so early in the comic.
Now apply your deduction skills to find a Half-Life 3 confirmation.
Yup, gotta have a vaccuum cleaner in there!
