I ended up having to draw this comic trice. After I started inking the original version I realized that I should have had less ceiling in the composition in the first panel, that the agent should be more smarmy in the second, and that Mayberry and the box should be more centered. At first, I thought I could edit it in PhotoShop, but after I realized how off-model Shere Khan was becoming I cut my losses and started over from scratch.
I’m ashamed to admit that I don’t recognize the little tiny one sitting in the middle chair. (As an aside: “They’re great!” was voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft, the same fellow who sang You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch for the TV special.)
It’s Daniel Striped Tiger from “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood.”
I was going to ask about that one thanms.
But , who’s the one next to the door. (Not Garfield)
BTW you forgot Bonkers and Bubsy.
Oh yeah! And the cat that’s always hanging out with Opus.
The other one next to the door is the tiger that was the mascot of the Sambo’s restaurant chain. I wish I had thought of Bill the Cat! Oh well.
No one can list all of them, but that is a nice grouping. Garfield, –?–,Sher Khan, Tigger, Daniel Striped Tiger, Hobbs and Sambo tiger logo.
Sher Khan voiced by the inimitable George Sanders who played the first and best version of Mr. Freeze in the old Batman series.
I had no idea Chester was so small…
When I worked on the Nike ads, the Chester Cheetah puppet was sitting on one of the workbenches — that was the size I was thinking when I drew him into this comic — and actually in the ads that’s the size they seems to use for the puppet:
