One of the things I’ve been most excited about doing during the reboot are the “experimental” layouts of the Sundays. I’m definitely taking a cue from Bill Watterson’s later strips these days and trying to give you guys your money’s worth. Today’s strip is probably the most avant garde of them, so hopefully you read it in the right panel order. Please let me know if you were confused, but I couldn’t resist. Here’s the sequence they should have been read in:

JLB-8 did all the heavy digging and got left out by Ralph. No surprise.
As I was reading this strip, it almost felt like there was dramatic adventure score music running in the background. Loved it.
For good or bad, Mayberry still consider himself the captain 🙂

I don’t know why this pleases me, but it does.
Actually my focus did in fact end up reading the bottom panel (daylight) first before the right side panel (too late). But I still realized which was meant to be the correct order and read them again.
I had no problem following the strip… I didn’t even think about the hapharzarded reading line before you pointed it out here 🙂
