Mayberry Melonpool is the television-addicted, somewhat clumsy, not-all-that-intelligent Captain of the "Steel Duck." Oh yeah, and he's obsessed with getting a date. In short, he doesn't have a lot going for him.
Ralph Zinobop is the inventor of the "Steel Duck." He is eager to enter the next phase of his plan: to make money off his inventions to regain his rightful place as ruler of the Planet Zinobop — a planet that he was exiled from by his paranoid father several years ago. His other hobbies include wild get-get-rich schemes and drinking copious amounts of coffee. He also has a terrible temper.
Sam T. Dogg is completely out of his element. He’s super intelligent, a highly-skilled pilot and has the most common sense of anyone aboard the "Steel Duck." Also, no one takes him seriously because he’s a dog.
It’s over — swamped with work and the Musical. I should be able to finish up this story tonight and get back to regular updates again next week. The good news is, I have plenty of ideas now — just not enough hours in the day!
I have every intention of coming back regularly this week — so much has happened this last month that I wasn’t prepared for and it’s made the comic difficult to find time for. In short — Erik and my musical has taken off like gangbusters and has been extended now three times. Also, a tree fell on my car on June 8 and I have to deal with insurance and finding a new car — all of which was finally taken care of today (7/13). It’s hard to keep drawing when you don’t have a car to buy art supplies!
I know! The good news is that I’m back at the drawing board and have a few strips drawn — I just haven’t posted them yet because I’ve been so busy with the musical and the car repairs (oh yeah — a tree fell on my car), that I haven;t gotten enough of a backlog yet to start up again. Soon though — very soon. My life seems to be balancing out again!
Hey, since it looks like you’re fairly responsive to this comments section, itswalky.com has been rerunning the original strips for a long time and they just got to the old Walky/Melonpool crossover. The only trouble is that Willis doesn’t have any of the strips available at a resolution higher than 600px!
Got the file ready for whenever Willis emails me. I don’t have his email either, so he should email me at melonpool@gmail.com , Also, Melonpool will be back this Saturday, right where it left off!
Welcome back!
Looks like Ralphie is less of a sockpuppet in this version of the Melonverse… me like! 😀
Beware of the quiet ones..
Chaotic Good – Sometimes good means smacking you in the face.
I’m not sure I should ask this, but how’s the writer’s block coming along? 😀

What madness is this where we have Bloom County again, but no Melonpool?

Looking forward to it, Steve. 🙂
Consider my breath bated.
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Waiting is so hard…
We miss you, Steve! Come back to the internet!
Working on new installments, even as we speak….

Willis says, “If you’re seeing this, Steve, answer your emails!” If you’re as bad about checking email as I am, I thought I’d let you know.
