Mayberry Melonpool is the television-addicted, somewhat clumsy, not-all-that-intelligent Captain of the "Steel Duck." Oh yeah, and he's obsessed with getting a date. In short, he doesn't have a lot going for him.
Old Ralphie is the only survivor from the original Melonpool universe that we've encountered so far. He's essentially the product of Ralphie being caught in a 30-year time loop. He's currently searching through time and space for his lost wife and son.
Sam T. Dogg is completely out of his element. Heโs super intelligent, a highly-skilled pilot and has the most common sense of anyone aboard the "Steel Duck." Also, no one takes him seriously because heโs a dog.
Just got recaught up. This is interesting. And if it’s your way of making sure we don’t get retreads of the same dup-o-matic/time travel stories then it’s quite clever. I can still see you introducing a dup-o-magic, but it could be done because “Mayberry and Sam need help from a good Ralph and they know it’s possible, now they need to find the half-finished dup-o-matic Ralph stopped building. Except because it’s half-finished it doesn’t quite work as expected.”
Also Star Trek references have always been a big part of Melonpool a and this is just continuing on that premise. After yesterday’s recap I don’t think anyone needs to reread all the old strips. Especially if they’ve seen the Star Trek movie or are quite familiar with reboots.
No, no. They should still read the old strips. Preferably after buying the reasonably-priced book collections. ๐ They just don’t have to in order to understand what;s going on. ๐
