Sam T. Dogg is completely out of his element. He’s super intelligent, a highly-skilled pilot and has the most common sense of anyone aboard the "Steel Duck." Also, no one takes him seriously because he’s a dog.
Sammy the Hammy is a genetic experiment gone horribly awry. Sammy is part of the ship’s equipment (he’s the engine) as well as a member of the crew. For this reason, Ralph never bothered giving him a name and he remained known as “Hamster 42” for much of his life.
Vic was Mayberry‘s former boss and the owner of P.J. O’Earthy’s — an Earth-themed restaurant on a space station in the outskirts of the known universe. Like any T.G.I. Friday’s wannabe, it’s tacky and overpriced and known more for the kitsch than the food.
Oh boy! I jus commented on a previous strip about Sam’s thumbs, but I forgot that he got working, opposable thumbs due to an accident and a doctor confusing him with a human when he fixed his paws.
Not necessarily. This storyline will play out a lot differently than the Old School version. The characters will be essentially the same — with a few tweaks to keep it interesting — but the story lines will be new. Some may tread on familiar ground (like going to Earth), but it’s best to put the old stuff on a shelf and don’t worry about the old continuity. This continuity will be consistent with itself.
Melonpool’s Time Travel strips were actually really well-thought out. They work so long as you can follow my logic. That might be part of the problem. 😉 I have one time travel-ish series in mind for after the first of the year, but it’s unlike any of the others I’ve done before.
Sounds kind of zen – “before you can be free, you must learn to untie yourself”.
The difference, Sam, is that Hamster 42 is a PAYING customer.
(Or at least Vic thinks he is.)

I can’t express how glad I’m happy Mayberry and the crew are back! Now it will be like 5 years to see Roberta Sm…Sch…Sf… whatshername… again.

Consistent continuity? Well, I guess that eliminates any time travel strips. 🙂

I was about to say… what has the Melonpool Adventures suddenly have to do with “consistency” :p
Only spotted the reboot today. Awesome! Was going to comment when I reached the end, but: Thumb joke!
Welcome back!
